Infrared Thermography

Thermography is a useful tool for conducting electrical inspections and identifying potential problems in electrical installations. A thermography study involves using an infrared camera to capture thermal images of electrical equipment, such as switchboards, panels, Distribution Board, UPS, Inverter, Solar Panel, circuits, and transformers. These images can then be analyzed to identify hotspots, which could indicate potential electrical faults or failures.

During a thermography study, the electrical system is typically energized and operating under normal conditions. The infrared camera is used to capture images of the equipment, and the temperature readings are analyzed to identify any areas that are operating at a higher temperature than expected. These hotspots could be caused by a variety of issues, including loose connections, overloading, or component failure.

Thermography studies can be performed on a regular basis as part of a preventive maintenance program. By identifying potential problems before they cause equipment failure, thermography can help to reduce downtime, increase safety, and extend the life of electrical equipment. In addition, thermography can help to identify opportunities for energy savings by identifying areas where equipment is operating at a higher temperature than necessary.
